Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new accessories. They can also increase the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, like eth Titans have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will need to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats as well as the required component or materials.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from the previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up, but the required materials don't increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across several pieces.
If an item is finished being leveled in this way, it is able to receive a new set of upgrade components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes that are available depends on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade step will require an amount of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower rate of success.
To measure the height of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important aspect of the game that can increase the strength, damage or other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrade item s were given priority affixes that made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. This is because rerolling can give players a faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.
Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in different ways. They can be different sizes, contain no elements, or only have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to the level of the tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on their screen of their character. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
