Watch This: How Item Upgrading Is Taking Over And What You Can Do About It

World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with fewer upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player is able to have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be available at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values can enhance a stat by, and the value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs You will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an individual player upgrades a piece of equipment the original item is replaced by an item that is new. The same armor can be transformed into a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a problem because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player continuously enters or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP, as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The  item upgrader  allows players to raise the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and armor) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to revert to its initial state, which will force the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Players will still have to carry every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require an individual amount of ingredients needed to upgrade.
